Barça signs the Italian Giulia Dragoni, the first foreign resident at La Masia

On the last day of the transfer market, Barça surprised with the announcement of the signing of the young pearl of Inter Milan Giulia Dragoni. The 16-year-old midfielder has been reinforcing the subsidiary of the Catalan team and has become the first international resident of La Masia.

Dragoni has signed for two and a half seasons, until the summer of 2025 and this Tuesday he has already trained for the first time with Barça B at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper facilities. The Barcelona club has presented her as "one of the great promises of European football". International in lower categories with Italy, she can play inside or as a midfielder. Her great projection has earned her her debut this season in the Italian Serie A, playing residual minutes in four Inter games.

“For me it is an honor to be part of this club. I am very happy for the confidence they have given me", the footballer told the club's media. Dragoni thanked her for the great reception she has received from her new teammates at La Masia: “I am very happy to be part of this new family. I have only been here for a short time but they are welcoming me like a sister. La Masia is like a small city where we are all. We have a very good relationship with each other and coexistence is very good ”, she assured.

La Masia opened its doors to women's football in the summer of 2021. After almost 122 years of history, Barça welcomed nine players from the subsidiary for the first time as the first female residents of the center. Alba Caño, Berta Doltrafill, Clàudia Riumalló, Judit Pujols, Laura Coronado, Lucía Corrales, Martina Fernández, Ona Baradad and Meritxell Font, were the pioneers. All of them came from different parts of Catalonia except Lucía Corrales, from Mallorca. Now, for the first time, it will have an international resident.

This is one more step in the integration of the footballers in the club and a commitment to equality that began in 2015, when Patri Guijarro became the first woman to attend high school at La Masia, a practice that has now been normalized and to which many footballers can opt each season.
