Barça significantly reduces the number of subscribers and raises prices on the transfer to Montjuïc

Barcelona will play the last game of the season at the Camp Nou, scheduled for the weekend of May 27 and 28 against Mallorca. Shortly after, the remodeling works of the new Spotify Camp Nou will begin and next season the first team will move to the Estadi Olímpic de Montjuïc. In principle, he will not return to the Camp Nou until November 2024, which is when the first phase of the works is expected to finish. "We are leaving, but we must ensure that this march is for the shortest time possible," said institutional vice president Elena Fort, who announced the capacity model and the mobility plan.

The change of scenery that involves the transfer of matches to the Montjuïc stadium makes it necessary to establish a new model of capacity and operation that is completely different from that applied in the Spotify Camp Nou with a capacity for 94,000 spectators. Bearing in mind that the available seats at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys are reduced to a total of 49,472 tickets for sale with visibility and another 9,369 that will have reduced visibility, the reduction in capacity implies a reduction in Camp Nou season ticket holders. Of the current 83,500 subscribers, only 27,385 will have the option of going to the magic mountain. The remaining 22,087 seats are used for club commitments and advertising by sponsors and for sale to the general public.

All those season ticket holders who want to continue attending the matches must request, from the first week of May and throughout the month through the club's website, a season pass in a certain area of the Estadi Lluís Companys, regardless of the area they They have the Camp Nou Spotify subscription, without a fixed seat, and with match-by-match registration. There will be six zones to choose from. In the event that the requests in the draw exceed the number of season tickets available in each area, it will be necessary to carry out a draw to distribute the requested seats, and those members who are not awarded a ticket will be entitled to receive a proportional part for the service not borrowed.

The forecast that Barça had made of losing around 93 million in income due to the eventual change of stadium has been reduced to 55 million. The savings come from cutting costs, from the creation of a fan zone that will liven up the climb to Montjuïc, restaurant services and shops.

Also due to the increase in the prices of the Montjuïc season tickets. Thus, the most expensive side of the Camp Nou, which is worth 896 euros, amounts to 1,002 euros. Goal passes go from 515 euros per year to 723 euros. And those in the stands go from 1,164 to 1,738. “The transfer means a full stop. All subscribers and members start from scratch in Montjuïc, there are no ups or downs, it is a totally different concept”, specified Fort.

The tickets on sale for the general public will also be more expensive, since packages linked to "the experience" of seeing Barça will be prepared, including VIP-type attentions and linked to tourist packages.

All those members and members with a season ticket who buy the pass will have to previously request their registration for the game they wish to attend with a maximum of six days in advance. Subscribers to the Spotify Camp Nou who have attended more than 85 percent of the matches during this 2022-23 season, on the date the form is opened, will have a preference of 24 and 48 hours in advance over the rest of members and members at the time of being able to choose an area for the season pass.

After around five matches have been held at the Montjuïc stadium, the system will automatically assign the best seats within the pass area to the members who attend the greatest number of matches.

Following the model that the club applied in matches with restricted capacity during the pandemic months, there will be no child passport, season ticket for supporters clubs or Seient Lliure. As Vice President Fort confirmed, the accumulated money corresponding to the 2022-23 season will be deducted from the 2024-25 season ticket when they return to the Spotify Camp Nou.

The Grada de Animació, located in the lower area of the Gol Nord and which will have a price of 325 euros, is maintained. Vice President Elena Fort confirmed that they are negotiating with UEFA to reduce the 5 percent of tickets for rival fans in European competitions.

The cost of the rent that FC Barcelona will pay to BSM, the company that owns the stadium, will be around four million euros per year, although the chosen formula is a match-by-match rental. To give an example, the Barça club will pay more the day it plays against Real Madrid than another day with a lesser rival.

Regarding the mobility plan, Jordi Portabella, the head of the Sustainability Area, pointed out that the club's intention is for people to "leave more time from home" on match days and that, for the most part, they use public transport. Plaza España is reached by public transport. We have spoken with the Fira to be able to guarantee 2000 parking spaces. The way to get to the perimeter is with a shuttle from Plaza España.

There are three ways to get from the perimeter to the stadium: regular bus, funicular and shuttle bus. The latter will be convoys of three and will leave every four minutes from Plaza España and Calle del Foc. It is a free service and will have capacity for 80 people. You can also walk up the escalator or with personal mobility vehicles such as bicycles and scooters.

The coaches, cars and motorcycles are reserved for commitments of the club, operations, supporters clubs and opposing fans. Within the perimeter of the mountain, only 1,000 cars with permission and 3,500 motorcycles will be able to enter. Portabella assured that there will also be improvements in lighting for pedestrians and informative signs of the routes.
