Banksy's last mural, a plea against sexist violence

The street artist Banksy has chosen Valentine's Day to spread his new work on social networks. The mural has appeared in the seaside town of Margate, southeast England. In the new creation appears a woman with a black eye. The work has been received as an allegation against gender violence.

In his new creation, the sought-after graffiti artist and activist - whose identity remains shrouded in mystery - uses an abandoned freezer to pretend that the woman in the mural, who is missing a tooth, had thrown a man into the appliance.

The freezer, the main element of the mural, was removed a few hours after Banksy confirmed his authorship of the work by posting a photograph of the work on his Instagram account.

The mural appeared on Monday morning at the back of a building on Grosvenor Place, which leads to the beach in the English town.

Banksy's post on the social network, which accumulated more than a million likes on Tuesday, includes a close-up of the woman's battered face, under the title Valentine's Day Mask.

The graffiti artist has painted various murals in the English county of Kent, whose coasts are the closest of the island of Great Britain to the European continent.

In 2017, he executed a large painting in Dover depicting a worker removing one of the yellow stars from the European Union (EU) flag, in reference to Brexit.

Some experts came to value that work at one million pounds (1.13 million euros), although two years later it ended up being erased with white paint.
