Banco Santander must stop charging 10 euros for depositing cash at the window

The sentence of a Mercantile Court number 1 of Vitoria that obliges Banco de Santander to stop charging 10 euros for depositing cash at the window is already final, after the financial institution withdrew from the appeal that it had presented, as reported by the Basque Association of Consumers and Users, EKA/ACUV.

This organization points out in a statement that, in this way, Banco Santander must stop charging the commission for deposit at the window and must return what has been paid so far for this concept.

The sentence issued by the Mercantile Court of the capital of Alava, after estimating the action for cessation presented by the association, has become firm and, therefore, the entity will have to "refrain from collecting" this commission of 10 euros for doing a deposit of cash at the window by third parties.

In addition, the bank will have to "eliminate the information related to its accrual from the brochure of commission rates, conditions and expenses", as established by the judicial resolution.

EKA/ACUV has affirmed that, in this way, "the nullity of said commission is generalized and, therefore, its withdrawal is imposed immediately by all entities". If this is not the case, he explained that "he will continue to sue all those who persist in using it".

The consumer association has recalled that "there are already several commissions that have been declared void, in addition to this one, such as, for example, the commission for cash withdrawal at the window, the claim for debtor positions and the commission for carrying out operations that can be done through the cashier".
