Families from Badalona denounce a "structural deficit" of public school places in the city. According to pre-registration data for the 2022-2023 academic year with which the families work, a total of 51 children in P3 could be left out of their area. The situation affects the downtown neighborhoods, in addition to the La Salut and Llefià areas.

In the city as a whole, however, the total negative balance of public places would drop to a dozen and, on the contrary, about 200 concerted places would remain empty. In the case of secondary education, there would be 67 vacancies in the city, all of them in the neighborhoods of Badalona Sud –36 public and 31 concerted–. The families claim to the Department of Education that "no student is excluded from a public education of quality and proximity".

In an instance addressed to the Department, the families recall that "the construction of two new primary schools has been planned for years that has not been carried out", but that even so "there would still be a lack of places for infants and primary schools". As for school planning, they regret that in the case of secondary school it is "non-existent".

Despite everything, the families consider that the solutions that are adopted year after year to deal with the imbalance between supply and demand, such as the creation of 'bolet' groups in some centers "negatively affect the quality of education offered in Badalona " and that the structural lack of places "has never been approached with foresight".

For this reason, the objective of the families for the next course is to find a short-term solution and improve planning in the future. The petition will be delivered to the Department on May 24 with the aim of putting pressure on the Generalitat so that there is a response before the 27. That day, a second round of pre-registration begins for families who have been left without a place.
