Badalona demands the extension of L1 of the Metro that accumulates a delay of ten years

The repeated non-compliance of the Generalitat with the Metro line 1 extension project between the Fondo neighborhood of Santa Coloma de Gramenet and the Badalona neighborhoods of Montigalà, Lloreda and Sant Crist, has caused a chain reaction of protest and the announcement of mobilizations to claim what the Badalona City Council considers to be a basic infrastructure for the city.

In a parliamentary response, the Minister of Territory and Sustainability, Jordi Puigneró, added three years to the delay that the work already accumulates, which is ten years. The latest news, also in parliamentary response, the minister himself stated that the works would begin in 2025 and would last approximately three years.

In a letter sent to the person in charge of public works of the Generalitat, the mayor, Rubén Guijarro, recalls that the official statements are a "serious breach of the Pla Director d'Infraestructures (PDI) approved by the Generalitat that "will involve mobility problems for residents of Badalona and the neighboring cities".

"As mayor of the city, I would like to know the reasons that have caused the new delay in the start of works on L1" continues the mayor in his official letter. For this reason, he insists, "I am writing to you to mobilize all available resources to make it possible to comply with the planned schedule." In the event that this is not possible, the mayor of Badalona demands "the specific execution schedule of the long-awaited project".

For its part, the Federation of Associations of Residents of Badalona (FAVB), has also reacted angrily to the news of the delay. The entity assures that it will promote a united declaration of all the parties in Badalona and they will ask for a meeting with the president of the Generalitat to convey their discontent.
