The former counselor of the Presidency of the Generalitat by Junts, Elsa Artadi, will be appointed this afternoon as counselor to the presidency of the Foment employers' association. The appointment - along with that of other people - will be made at the meeting of the employer's board of directors chaired by Josep Sánchez Llibre, which starts today at three in the afternoon.
The position of director that Artadi occupied is not paid and is not full-time. After the appointment of Artadi and other people, the number of directors rises to a dean. Sánchez-Llibre was CiU's spokesman in Congress for several years.
Last May -one year before the municipal elections-, Artadi resigned from being the candidate of Junts per Catalunya for mayor of Barcelona. When she did it, she was still vice president of Junts and had been the party's spokesperson until a few weeks before.
In May of last year, after the agreement for the investiture of Pere Aragonès between Junts and Esquerra, she resigned from being Minister of the Government of the Generalitat despite having been part of the negotiating team, and announced that she would focus on the electoral race for Barcelona, in which he had had no internal rivals. In 2019 she was number two in the candidacy behind Quim Forn, who was then a prisoner in Lledoners. She before she had been her, with Quim Torra, minister of the Presidency and spokesperson for the Catalan executive.
Artadi began her career in the political front row in the December 2017 elections, when she became a deputy, after having been a close collaborator of Carles Puigdemont in the Government. The leader is part of the nucleus of the former president along with Josep Rius and other leaders and she was present in the embryo of Junts. In the parliamentary group, from the beginning, she assumed responsibilities and has been one of the heavyweights of JxCat.
