Arrimadas announces the refoundation of the liberal project before the municipal ones

The president of Ciudadanos, Inés Arrimadas, announced last night the objective of refounding the liberal project of the party before the municipal ones since, according to what she said, "the brand is not perceived as useful by the Spanish" after the electoral results in Andalusia, where the The orange party was left out of the regional Parliament, losing the 21 deputies that its leader, Juan Marín, obtained in 2018, which allowed him to vice-chair the Board.

"We knew it and these elections confirm it," Arrimadas added in an interview on Onda Cero, in which he indicated that he is thus accelerating the deadlines "of the action plan that has been in place for a few months, and that has been born from the grassroots to renew program, teams, brand and leadership”.

In this sense, he pointed out that this plan to renew the party must be endorsed by the bases before the next regional and municipal elections in 2023 and argued that this renewal will be in the image and likeness of the one carried out by the European liberal parties that have also passed for "very hard moments" and that some time later have come to the fore, among which the German Liberal Party stood out. .

The orange leader defended that, "despite being very sad", Ciudadanos is a party that continues to exist and continues to "be necessary" on the political board. "I am very sad today. It is true that on days like this you have to bite the bullet and show your face. You have to talk to everyone, listen and know that you have to keep fighting," she added.

For Arrimadas this plan must have "very brave measures", new communication and organization mechanisms insisting that it be an "open process". "We are making a plan, which has not started now, but the result of Andalusia forces us to speed it up", he acknowledged.

During the interview, Arrimadas acknowledged that the party has made "several mistakes" that have paid "dearly", for example in the negotiation of the autonomous governments in which they handed over the four presidencies to "a party that had objectively obtained the worst result of its history", referring to the Popular Party, whom he accused of not having been loyal to the regional executive, with the exception of Andalusia.

Likewise, he recalled that in 2019 Ciudadanos was not able to "reach out a hand" to seek a government with the PSOE due to the refusal of the former party leader, Albert Rivera, who, in his opinion, "would have really shown that whoever did not want to agree It was Sanchez. "We made it very easy for Sánchez to repeat the elections and also to assume the blame ourselves," he lamented.

After recalling the stage of Ciudadanos in which the party has been deflating, Arrimadas insisted that there are 11 months left to work on an action plan and present himself to the municipal elections in the "most open way possible" despite acknowledging that he is going to have a "great" personal cost. "You have to take a step forward," he settled.
