Argentina recovers the long-awaited shirt with which Maradona won the 86 World Cup final

A symbol returns home. The shirt worn by Diego Armando Maradona in the 1986 World Cup final in Mexico, which the albiceleste won, returned to Argentina on Tuesday after being donated by the German Lothar Matthaus, his rival in the decisive match for the title and who since then had the jacket

"The shirt used in the 86 World Cup final by our legend Diego Armando Maradona returned to the country. Yes, it returned to the House of Argentine Football. Armor, relic and treasure of one of our greatest exponents of world football," the Association reported. of Argentine Soccer (AFA) through social networks. The emblematic shirt had been donated two months ago by the German Matthaus, previous owner of the iconic clothing.

"Very proud to have recovered the Armor of Diego Maradona in the final of Mexico 1986. Very soon everyone will be able to afford to visit it. Thank you Marcelo Ordás, The Legends and especially Lothar Matthaus, who from now on has the doors open of this house", added the president of the AFA, Claudio Chiqui Tapia.

Matthaus played in the World Cups in Spain 1982, Mexico 1986, Italy 1990, United States 1994 and France 1998. The emblematic German player lost the final of the World Cup in Mexico 3-2 against Maradona's Argentina, thus obtaining his second and last world title.

"As friends we always used to exchange shirts, and in that game I didn't have much time in the break, we just changed the shirts and we'll talk later," Matthaus said a couple of months ago when donating the shirt in Spain.

"That day Argentina won in a very deserved way, not only because of Diego but because the whole team was very strong. Afterwards there was no time to talk much because he was celebrating and I was with my team," said the German.
