Araújo breaks up with Uruguay and problems grow for Xavi

This national team break is on its way to becoming a virus in itself for Barça. After Koundé and Memphis were injured this Thursday, and De Jong and Dembélé ended their respective matches with discomfort, this Friday Ronald Araújo has joined the misfortune, who has had to withdraw from the match between Iran and Uruguay in the first minutes of play due to muscular discomfort.

The centre-back, a fixture for Xavi Hernández since the start of the season, took 40 seconds to warn of the situation. He quickly asked for the change and began to feel the affected area. He was able to walk off the field by his own foot but did so by touching the upper thigh of his left leg. The Uruguayan will undergo tests in the coming days to determine the extent of his injury, but everything points to something muscular.

While waiting for tests to be carried out that shed light on the degree of involvement, the center-back is doubtful for the match against Mallorca that Barça will play next week. Araújo had started the match as a central defender, in a partnership with Sebastián Cáceres from América de México, in the absence of Diego Godin, Josema Giménez and Sebastián Coates, all due to injury.

With this there are three injuries that Barça players have already suffered in this break, while two other players, De Jong and Dembélé, have been suffering from discomfort. These possible absences would greatly condition the coach's plans, who could have to bet on Eric as a central defender and Bellerin on the right side.
