Aragonès: "I still don't know what Yolanda Díaz and Sumar think about Catalonia"

The president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès (ERC), has used irony to refer to the launch of Sumar and has suggested that he still does not know what proposal Yolanda Díaz has about Catalonia, but he has made two requests: that he be "brave" and that he "move away from the Jacobinism of the state left".

In an interview with EFE, Aragonès alluded to the presentation a week ago of Sumar, the platform with which the second vice president of the Government, Yolanda Díaz, took the first step to present her candidacy for the general elections in December.

"I have been looking for what he thought about Catalonia and I still have not found it...", the president ironically suggested, when asked if he found Yolanda Díaz y Sumar's proposal regarding the territorial question interesting. "It is a project that has many opinions on many issues, but I have not seen any on the political future of Catalonia."

In any case, the head of the Catalan Executive and national coordinator of ERC has admitted that he will be able to "pronounce" when Yolanda Díaz specifies his position on the Catalan question.

"I hope that at some point they will put a proposal on the table (on Catalonia). And I hope that it is a courageous proposal, that it moves away from the Jacobinism that has existed for a long time on the Spanish left and that it is a position favorable to the right of self-determination of the peoples", he pointed out.

Regarding whether the political clash between Sumar and Podemos could favor a victory of the right-wing parties in the general elections in the event that both formations finally run separately, Aragonès has been "convinced" that "if there is a victory of the right and the extreme right will not be due to certain dynamics of the state left".

This hypothetical scenario, according to Aragonès, would be caused "probably because the PSOE has not been brave enough with certain policies, also in relation to Catalonia."

Aragonès has shown his "desire" that "all political spaces be organized, are as strong as possible and can reach agreements", in order to be able in the future to "join forces and collaborate" with ERC to advance towards the resolution of the political conflict Catalan and even independence, as well as for "social justice".
