The mayor of Cornellà de Llobregat, Antonio Balmón, will once again be, for the fifth time, the candidate of the PSC for mayor of the city of Baix Llobregat in the upcoming municipal elections of 2023.

Balmón, who has been mayor of Cornellà since he replaced the former president of the Generalitat José Montilla in 2004, was yesterday proclaimed the PSC candidate in an extraordinary assembly in which he received the support of 99% of the militants and sympathizers of the local socialist group, He explained the match in a statement on Monday.

"Here, today, begins a new path of change that we will make a reality on May 28 of next year and that we will later complement with the action of the City Council," said Balmón.

The current mayor of Cornellà has stressed that, despite the difficulties, during this mandate the Consistory has continued to transform the common spaces of the city, has allocated more resources to security, has erected two new libraries and has built social housing. "And we have done all this in a City Council that does not owe a single euro", he remarked.

The event also featured the intervention of the Minister of Culture and Sports, Miquel Iceta, and former President Montilla, who highlighted Balmón's experience and the "success" of his government's management.
