Angela, the baby abandoned on a street in Malaga, is evolving favorably

The baby found on a street in Malaga by several agents of the National Police is progressing favorably. The little girl was found this Saturday on Actriz La Tirana street in Malaga capital and, later, the Police transferred her to the Maternal and Child hospital where she is still admitted to finish recovering.

Sources close to the investigation confirmed to EFE that she was a newborn, barely two or three hours old, who still had the umbilical cord when they found her. A man was the first to give the notice around 8:30 a.m. when he called Emergency Telephone 112 that he had found a baby on the ground and crying on Actriz La Tirana Street, in the Duende area.

The first National Police agents who arrived at the scene were the ones in charge of immediately transferring her to the Maternal and Child Hospital for medical attention.

When she was discovered by an individual, she was immediately covered up so that she wouldn't be cold and when the health workers gave her some food, the little girl accepted it "immediately and eagerly," the sources stated.

In one of the rooms of the Maternal and Child Hospital, the agents who rescued her and the health workers who have been caring for the little girl since her admission decided that the best name for her was Angela (in honor of the patron saint of the Police, the Holy Guardian Angels). , as reported by Diario Sur.

The Police are checking the DNA extracted from the remains found with the newborn in their database to try to identify her parents, as established by protocol.

Sources close to the case told EFE that along with the baby, who is in good condition, some "properties" with traces of DNA that could belong to the mother were located.

The Police are keeping the investigation open to try to identify the mother and locate a relative. If none appear, the little girl will become the guardian of the Board.

At an event in Granada, the Government delegate in Andalusia, Pedro Fernández, confirmed that this DNA "is being compared" with the police database to achieve "prior identification." "But right now there is no identity of who the person who abandoned the baby could be," he stressed.
