Andorra is considering installing a cable car like the one in Toulouse

Andorra is studying Téléo, the cable car that the city of Toulouse installed last May, as a sustainable and fast transport alternative in the principality. The Minister of the Presidency, Economy and Business, Jordi Gallardo, recently visited the facilities of this urban air transport to analyze its performance. Téléo involved an investment of 80 million euros in Toulouse and connects the Paul Sabatier University with the Oncopole in ten minutes, a journey that would take no less than half an hour by land.

After Gallardo's meeting with the president of Tisséo Voyageurs and director at Toulouse Metropole, Nicolas Misiak, the Andorran minister pointed out that “we have a special interest in learning about this mobility alternative as a solution to the growth in mobility that we have in the country. Téléo has the capacity to transport 15,000 users a day, it is an infrastructure with very little environmental impact and it has had a good response not only from citizens, but also from tourists”.

The investment does not scare the Government of Andorra. "If we take into account the number of vehicles that have been removed from the road network or what it would cost to build a new road, the investment is lower," said Jordi Gallardo. Andorra will begin the second phase of its study of this option in collaboration with the French company. Gallardo was accompanied in Toulouse by the Secretary of State for the Economy, Eric Bartolomé, and the Andorran ambassador to France, Eva Descarrega.
