Temperatures will remain significantly high at the beginning of the weekend and prior to the start of the fourth heat wave that begins on Sunday, except in the Cantabrian area where daytime temperatures will drop significantly, according to the State Agency for Meteorology (Aemet).
The heat will put 26 provinces of half a dozen autonomies at risk this Saturday. Concrete has warnings for heat in Cádiz, Granada, Huelva, Seville, Teruel, Burgos, Albacete, Cuenca, Barcelona, Gerona, Tarragona, Madrid, Murcia, Navarra, Álava, La Rioja, Alicante, Valencia, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and Tenerife, which will rise to orange in Córdoba, Jaén, Málaga, Huesca, Zaragoza and Lleida.
This Saturday, the passage of a front through the northwest of the peninsula will produce cloudy skies in Galicia and the western half of the Cantabrian Sea, with the possibility of light rain. Cloudy intervals are also expected in the rest of the extreme north of the peninsula, Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, with the possibility of a shower or weak and isolated storm in the Pyrenees.
The skies will be slightly cloudy with intervals of high clouds in the rest of the Peninsula while in the Canary Islands slightly cloudy skies are expected, with some cloudy intervals and without ruling out showers or storms in Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
Daytime temperatures will experience a locally notable drop in the Cantabrian area, while they will rise in the southwest quadrant of the peninsula and in the Canary Islands, and with little change in the rest, as well as at night. In the case of the Canary Islands, temperatures may reach or exceed 34ºC in points in the interior south and west of all the islands, except Lanzarote.
The winds will blow from the west component in the western third of the peninsula, from the northeast in the Canary Islands, and variable in the rest.
Probability of mists and morning fog banks in the western half, with light rains and scattered showers that will gradually weaken and subside; Overcast sky decreasing to slightly cloudy in the northwest, and throughout the afternoon in the rest except in the northeast and in Rías Baixas, where cloudiness will persist.
Minimum temperatures decreasing in the western half, unchanged or slightly increasing in the eastern half and maximum temperatures rising in the west of A Coruña, decreasing in the south of Pontevedra and the northern coast that will be notable in A Mariña and with few changes in the rest.
Light wind from the west and southwest component, although moderate at first in the area of Estaca de Bares and on the southwest coast, turning to the north component at noon on the north coast and from late afternoon on the rest.
