And in the end...Harry Kane

It had to be England's fourth game in Qatar, when the 'three lions' team had already scored ten goals in the World Cup. It was the addition of the first half against Senegal. The 'pross' were already winning 1-0 when Jude Bellingham began a book counter against a disorderly rival. The Borussia Dortmund star put it for Phil Foden, who gave the ball to Kane, who he defined as a real 'killer' against Mendy, the Chelsea goalkeeper. It was his first goal in the World Cup. He was already playing.

Before Kane, Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka (2), Sterling, Rashford (3), Grealish, Foden and Henderson had scored in this World Cup for England. Kane had given three assists but was not in tune facing the goal, determined to start the play from behind or fallen to a band.

The goal against Senegal took a load off Kane's shoulders. It was his 52nd goal with the England shirt. Already only one of the record held by Wayne Rooney. The Spurs forward was already the Golden Boot in the last edition of the World Cup, in Russia 2018, after scoring six goals and being the leader of a team that finished fourth in the championship, after losing the game for the third placed against Belgium.

Before the game against Senegal Kane had not only not scored but had not even shot on goal. However, he did not seem very concerned: "I feel that I am playing well. The goals are what they are going to judge me the most, but, as always, I am a calm person and I focus on what I can do best for the team. If they come the goals will be great and, as a striker, I always want to score", he explained in his last press appearance.

At the age of 29, Kane began the World Cup full of energy, but in his debut against Iran he suffered a hard attack on his right ankle that made him a doubt for the following games (United States and Wales) in which he was not at 100%, but played in both parties. Against Senegal, Kane finished off twice on goal. One was stopped by Mendy and the other was a goal. Kane now points to France.
