Ancelotti: “The Premier? I don't know when this will stop."

The Premier continues to spend much more on transfers than the other major European leagues. In this summer market, the Premier has invested 2,000 million euros in footballers, four times more than the League. Carlo Ancelotti, at the press conference prior to today's match against Betis (4:15 pm), expressed concern about the economic dominance exercised by English football. The now Real Madrid coach knows that competition well. He trained Chelsea, with whom he won the Premier, and before returning to the Bernabeu he was at Everton.

For Carlo Ancelotti, the Premier is the mirror in which everyone should look at themselves. Asked what he thinks of the economic dominance of English competition, he commented: “I don't know when this is going to stop. The goal for all the leagues, not just the Spanish one, is to get closer to them by improving the quality of the game, the atmosphere, with new stadiums, without violence. The Premier has come a long way with the sale of television rights and has beaten the other leagues: there is a good atmosphere, without violence. The stages are filled and functional. They have an advantage and the objective of the others has to be to improve these aspects above all”.

This afternoon's game at the Bernabeu has great attractions. It will be the Whites' return to their stadium 106 days later and brings together the top two in the standings, the only ones who have won all three of their games.

Betis also arrives with a condition that makes them unique. He has spent more than five years without conceding a single goal at Real Madrid, where he has accumulated two wins and three goalless draws in his last five visits. Quique Setién achieved two wins at the Bernabeu in his two campaigns as Betic coach: by the least, with a goal from Sanabria, in the 17-18 season, and 0-2 on the last day of the following campaign, thanks to goals from Loren and Jesse.

In the last three leagues, the first with Rubi as coach and the last two with the Chilean Manuel Pellegrini at the helm, the Betis managed three zero draws, the one in the 20-21 campaign at the Alfredo di Stéfano in Valdebebas and the last at the Bernabéu.

For today's game, Manuel Pellegrini has already been able to sign up Claudio Bravo and Willian José, once the salary cap problems have been resolved. In the Verdiblancos, William Carvalho is out due to injury. “We will try to be the Betis of always”, says the Chilean coach.

At Madrid Ancelotti has left Odriozola and Vallejo out of the squad. The Italian coach promises minutes for Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio, but a team is not expected to be anything other than the one that won in the first three days, all three away from home.
