An intergenerational Tete Montoliu for the final stretch of the Barcelona Jazz Festival

Two grand pianos of luxurious quality will fill the Liceu Conservatory with music on December 1 to honor, in the final stretch of the Barcelona Jazz Festival, an essential of the genre in our country and throughout the world: Tete Montoliu. Per semper Tete is the second concert to be organized on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of her death and will feature five pianists who will present, between solos and duets, their interpretation of the maestro. La Vanguardia subscribers have a 15% discount on the price of tickets, provided they are purchased at Entradas de Vanguardia.

Ignasi Terraza, Albert Bover, Xavi Torres, Lucía Fumero and Alejandro Esperanza will be responsible for presenting their interpretation of the maestro according to the question: who is Tete Montoliu today, 25 years after her death? For this reason, in the repertoire of musicians there are jazz greats who represent a wide intergenerational range. From Bover and Terraza, who met Tete in person and who even helped them in their music studies; to Fumero, Torres and Esperanza, representatives of the millennials, and who approached the teacher from the mediation of the CDs.

Each one of the musicians has done a previous job of introspection to explain who "su Tete" is. His texts can be consulted on the official Instagram of the Barcelona Jazz Festival.

"The young generations continue to maintain Tete's legacy," claimed Alejandro Esperanza, the youngest pianist who will perform tomorrow. Thus, the universality of the Montoliu legacy is evident, who fused jazz with boleros, Serrat or Catalan popular songs, which will also form part of the concert's repertoire.

Núria Montoliu, Tete's daughter, together with her children, will accompany the musicians tomorrow at the Liceu Conservatory. "We are very excited that she will maintain her legacy and that the Barcelona Jazz Festival will give her this gift," her daughter expressed gratitude at the concert presentation.

Both the organization of the festival and the five pianists hope to honor the unmistakable rhythm and musical sound of their teacher and inspiration. Per semper Tete, a title chosen by his widow, is the second tribute this year, after the concert at the Festival Grec this September.
