An extra 13,500 euros per employee, Ferrari's record prize

The 5,000 Ferrari workers are in luck. Despite the economic and geopolitical uncertainty, the big luxury car brands continue to run at high speed. And the excellent results of the Maranello company have led the Italian car manufacturer to announce that the annual competitiveness prize will reach 13,500 euros for each employee, 12.5% more than last year, when they reached 12,000 euros. . A record, the largest in the history of Ferrari, announced by the CEO, Benedetto Vigna. “I am very happy, it is a recognition for everything that our workers do daily”, he celebrated.

The company's latest annual balance sheets are excellent. In 2022, the casa del cavallino also reached record registrations: 13,221 units, 2,066 (18.5%) more than in the previous year. It closed last year with a net profit of 939 million euros, while net income reached 5,000 million. The result for the workers is this record prize of 12,614 euros, the unions counted, a figure that, if there has been no absence at work – the absences caused by the pandemic have not been calculated – increases by 7% to 13,497. euro.

“These data lay the foundation for an even stronger 2023, fueled by persistently high demand for our products around the world,” said Vigna, a microsensor physicist who joined the company in 2021, handpicked by the family. Agnelli –reference shareholders– for the manufacturer to take another step in digitization.

“Despite the complex global macroeconomic scenario – he continued – we look forward with great confidence, driven by the numerous signs and results of an evolving company. We are constantly innovating our products and processes, getting closer to our decarbonization goals. All this is possible thanks to collaboration, the will to progress, continuous learning and the trust that distinguishes our people”.

Ferrari has increased the prices of some of its models and is benefiting from the fact that its very wealthy buyers are not as affected by rising inflation and rising interest rates. It is something that not only happens in the Maranello firm, but also Rolls-Royce and Bugatti have turned 2022 into the best sales year in their history, despite the rise in premium prices that have raised the prices of vehicles in everyone.

It is not something that surprises the experts. According to research by the McKinsey firm, the growth rates of luxury cars in the world for the next decade are already in double digits, while the rest of the cars will barely reach 1%. One of the factors is that the so-called ultra-rich (millionaires or billionaires) continue to increase in the world and move towards Asia, where owning one of these cars is a great symbol of social status. Another is that in this sector luxury vehicle owners want to switch to electric models, so there is even more room for growth.

This is one of the challenges now for Ferrari, which is preparing to change its model towards electric vehicles. In addition, some of its new models, such as the Purosangue SUV (valued at 390,000 euros), are generating demand above expectations. Among his objectives for this new year are to continue with innovation and launch four new models in 2023, following the plans for 15 new launches by 2026. But also to return to being competitive in the Formula 1 championship. "Our goal is win the World Cup and the entire team, with Fred Vasseur who has recently joined us, is working in this direction”, assured the CEO.
