An elderly woman and her son are accused of torturing an 18-year-old young man to death in Alicante

National Police agents have arrested an 81-year-old woman and her 40-year-old son as alleged perpetrators of the murder of an 18-year-old young man whom they kidnapped and tortured for 15 hours. The victim died 24 hours after being transferred to the hospital in critical condition, as reported by Headquarters in a statement.

The event took place on September 7. Two parallel investigations were initiated on the same day by the National Police. On the one hand, mid-morning on the day of the events, a communication had been received from the Algerian consulate referring to a possible kidnapping of an Algerian citizen residing in the city.

These facts had been brought to the attention of the Algerian Consulate by relatives of the alleged victim residing abroad, who had received videos and photos through a social network of their relative in deplorable conditions as a pressure tool to achieve the lucrative end. In these photos, the victim appeared lying supine on the floor, with his face covered with a mop, bleeding and very bruised. The ransom demanded by her captor to release her was 30,000 euros.

The Judicial Police investigators began their investigations with the premise of locating the victim's possible address to verify his condition and certify the veracity of the facts, since no information regarding his address was available in the statement.

Parallel to these events, late in the afternoon of the same day, a police team was sent to a home where a SAMUR health care team was caring for a man who was in a home bleeding profusely and who had several cuts throughout. the body, presumably caused by a third person.

When the commissioned agents arrived at the scene and observed the scene, they detected the possible commission of a criminal act of an extremely violent nature. There was a man lying supine on the floor, unconscious and seriously injured with lacerations from cuts and visible bruises all over his body, who was being assisted by medical services.

Next to them were two more people, a woman and her son, who stated that they were acquaintances of the victim and that they had found him in that state, so they called the health services.

The man said that he and his mother were on vacation in Alicante and that his friend, the victim, along with five other individuals, had stolen his money and other belongings the day before and that, after having claimed them, his friend called him. phone the early morning of the day of the events to return them.

While the agents had finished collecting the data and appeared at the Judicial Police headquarters, two acquaintances of the victim, unaware of his condition, appeared at the Police Station to inform the Police that they had seen in the open profile that a friend of his He had on a social network photos of his friend lying on the floor of his apartment, naked and with a mop on his face and that they thought they had kidnapped him.

In this way, the investigation that both groups of Judicial Police had initiated was crossed and the connection between both events was established, ordering the arrest of the suspect. Several police units were sent to the scene, arriving at the scene of the events just at the moment when the suspect's mother was cleaning the blood from the floor of the house with a mop with the alleged purpose of making any possible vestige that might have disappeared. could incriminate her and her son, who was not in the house at the time.

For this reason and other evidence that investigators had, the woman was detained and taken to police stations. At that moment she began the search for her son, who was located and arrested an hour later. Approximately twenty-four hours later, the victim died in the hospital due to one of the blows she had received to the head.

As revealed by the autopsy, a severe trauma caused by a blow to the head with a blunt object was the cause of death and the reason why he became practically brain dead, which caused the victim to have a brain hemorrhage and edema. leading to multi-organ failure.

Apparently, the victim and the arrested person had been arguing for two days about a possible theft of the former's money and documentation, as well as the keys to the home where he was living with his mother, apparently different from the scene of the crime. Witnesses witnessed how on one occasion, the arrested person violently scolded him to return them, however, the victim did not give importance to the fact.

In the early morning of the day of the events, the arrested person showed up at the victim's home insisting on recovering his belongings, and this may have been the moment in which an argument must have occurred that ended with the victim injured and in poor condition, possibly due to the blow to the head that caused his death a day later.

From that moment and for the next 15 hours, the arrested man, presumably with the help of his mother, had to subject the victim to constant and unnecessary suffering. Finally, mother and son, possibly seeing that the victim was unresponsive and unconscious, tried to hide the facts by calling the health services and pretending that they had found him in that state.

Those arrested, both of Algerian nationality, were placed at the disposal of the Alicante Court of Investigation, accused of the crimes of murder, kidnapping and crime against privacy. The man was immediately placed in provisional prison while the woman was released after her appearance in court.
