An AVE with a hundred passengers breaks down in a tunnel at the entrance to Sants

An AVE train with 95 passengers that came from Figueres (Girona) has broken down inside a tunnel at the entrance to the Sants station (Barcelona) this Monday night, as reported by Protecció Civil in a tweet.

High-speed traffic in both directions has been cut due to the incident, which is a mechanical breakdown that occurred around 8:30 p.m.

Due to the incident, the Ferrocat plan has been activated in the pre-alert phase. As a Renfe spokesman explained to La Vanguardia, what could be done to remove the vehicle and help the passengers has been assessed, and finally a train has been sent to tow the damaged AVE and take it to a station platform of Saints.

Renfe has informed passengers and applies a punctuality commitment with 100% refund of the ticket. Likewise, the clients who had to continue traveling, five people, will be accommodated in a hotel and tomorrow they will be able to continue to their destination.
