Almeida publishes the list of those admitted to nursery schools after winning the elections

The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez Almeida, has given the order to publish today the lists of those admitted to municipally owned nursery schools, after delaying the process for a week.

Initially, the list of those admitted was expected to be published just a week ago, but before the uncertainties as to whether or not the PP would win the 28-M elections in the City Council of the capital, it was decided to delay the process under the argument of that there was "a technical problem".

The Education area was in charge of notifying the management of each educational center not to publish the provisional list.

The City Council has offered 8,057 places in 74 centers and includes the opening of two new nursery schools, the one in San Blas, in Canillejas and the one in Villa de Vallecas. Every year, for each place there are usually three applications, so some 16,000 children will be left without a place in a City Council nursery school.

Families now have a few days to make claims and the final lists will be published in mid-June. Registration will be formalized throughout the month of July.

Families that do not obtain a place may opt for a child scholarship, the amount of which ranges between 100 and 350 euros per month depending on family income, to facilitate payment at a private school. They can also choose to stay out of those managed by the Community of Madrid.
