Almeida makes a move on the relocation of cantons: he promises to relocate 2 of the 12 paralyzed

The relocation of the 12 new cleaning cantons through Madrid is one of the issues that the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, does not want to take its toll on him at the rallies that he will hold in the coming days in different neighborhoods of the capital. And in the face of complaints from the neighbors, the delegate for the environment and mobility, Borja Carabante, has made a move by order of the number one in the capital.

For now, the Madrid City Council has made a commitment to relocate the cantons of Calle Aquitania and Arroyofresno, two of the 16 new ones that are going to be built throughout the city.

Carabante has held a meeting this Wednesday with the neighborhood associations interested in knowing the information on the municipal cleaning facilities that were planned to be implemented on Aquitania street, in the San Blas-Canillejas district, and on Leonor de Córdoba street, in Fuencarral-El Pardo.

After the appointment, in which the spokespersons for Vox and Ciudadanos on behalf of the opposition parties have also participated, the Madrid City Council has acquired the commitment to desist from executing the facilities on those plots and to relocate them. In the case of the residents of Aquitaine, the person in charge of the branch has guaranteed the residents that monthly meetings will be held to inform them about the decisions that are being adopted in the face of the new situation and that, in the meantime, all the necessary measures will be adopted. to minimize potential discomfort.

Next week, Carabante will meet with the residents of the neighborhoods of La Elipa, Montecarmelo and Carabanchel.

The rest of the cleaning facilities that have not yet begun to be built (12 of 16) remain paralyzed, as reported by the Environment and Mobility delegate on April 17 in the ordinary monthly commission. The Madrid City Council will not begin work on any of them until it agrees with the residents on the best possible solution, PP sources report.

The complaints have come not so much because they are built in the neighborhoods, but because of their proximity to homes, schools and commercial areas, which generates noise, traffic and even odors in the area. Hence, those affected demonstrated in different parts of the city and managed to stop the start of the works.

The PSOE councilor, Ignacio Benito, considered the stoppage "a truce" as it was almost an electoral period.

Work has already started on four of the 16 planned. It is about the one on Sinfonía street, in La Latina; that of the Camino del Pozo del Tío Raimundo, in Villa de Vallecas; that of Santeras, in Vicálvaro and that of Tresera street, in Carabanchel.
