The position of national spokesperson was only the beginning. José Luis Martínez-Almeida has stripped himself of everything that, until just two months ago, identified him with Pablo Casado and today he has presented himself at the PP Regional Congress in Madrid as the first Ayusismo soldier to restructure the party at the regional level and, from Madrid, to row so that the Popular Party assaults Moncloa in the next general elections.
Almeida has given an account of his 180 degree turn by offering himself to the president of the Community, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, from the conclave speakers' gallery. "Isa, here you have your partner", he has pointed out, grateful for maintaining his status in the Madrid PP after the crude fratricidal war that took place in the party in March.
In his new facet of ayusista, the mayor of Madrid has described the president of the Community as "the best option" to transmit "the message of the PP of the future" and has enlisted as the first of the 85,000 members "that we are leaving to leave the skin for you", he affirmed.
The mayor of the capital has defended that "in the face of socialism there is hope" and has been convinced that the PSOE can be "democratically kicked out" although he has regretted not knowing "how much the bill will cost" to support a Prime Minister whom he accused of "impoverish" Spain.
A Pedro Sánchez of whom he pointed out as the antithesis of the national president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, to whom he has guaranteed that the PP of Madrid will take "in flight" to win the next general elections, "whenever they are".
