Almeida calls the sculpture of the emeritus king pointing to the Bear at Puerta del Sol "imbecility"

The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, has described as "absolute imbecility" the appearance this Wednesday of a sculpture of King Juan Carlos I in the Puerta del Sol.

The work, by the Chilean artist Nicolás Miranda, represents the former head of state with a hunting rifle aiming at the statue of the bear and the strawberry tree located in the central square of the capital.

According to the artist himself, Parasitic Strategies for Survival in a Cruel World seeks to "generate a paradoxical intervention with the figure of the emeritus from the visual arts through collective and massive reading codes."

But the artist's explanations have not satisfied the mayor who has dismissed the controversy emphatically: "I don't talk about idiots and it is better not to publicize idiots," he pointed out.
