All the pro-independence forces will participate in the act of 1-O after the general policy debate

All the pro-independence forces will participate in the commemorative act for the fifth anniversary of the 1-O referendum, which will take place on Saturday, October 1 in the afternoon in Barcelona, at the Arc de Triomf.

This Thursday more details of the concentration have been presented, which will start in the afternoon, and will be held the same week in which the general policy debate takes place in Parliament, which marks the orientation of the new political course.

For that appointment of the Catalan Chamber there is still no consensus between the different actors on the resolutions related to the procés, and there is a risk that the pro-independence groups will vote differently. In any case, and after Esquerra did not attend the demonstration called by the Catalan National Assembly (ANC) on the occasion of the Diada of September 11, this time they will all be.

Carme Forcadell, who presided over the Parliament in October 2017, will be in charge of opening the political speeches and Carles Puigdemont, who was president of the Generalitat at the time, will close the event. In addition, all the entities will take the floor.

The unitary act has been called by the Council for the Republic, headed by Puigdemont, the ANC, Òmnium Cultural, the Association of Municipalities for Independence (AMI), the Chamber of Commerce and La Intersindical.

All this occurs at a time of disagreement between the two partners of the Government, ERC and Junts per Catalunya, and in which there is no agreement to re-create a strategic direction or General Staff of independence with all the representative actors of the movement.

Toni Castellà, from the Consell per la República and leader of the Demòcrates formation, has pointed out that with this act they intend to "reclaim the values that made 1-O a success" and "demonstrate that when we want there is unity despite the situation ". "If it was possible, it is because there was an agreement, a joint strategy and collaboration in equal parts between institutions, parties, organized civil society and citizens. If one of those pieces had failed, it would not have come out. All the pieces fit together", pointed out Castellà, a This aspect was also highlighted by the other entities when taking the floor at the press conference this Thursday at the Col·legi de Periodistes.

"It will be an example of transversality and unity," they added from the independence associations. "We want to have all the souls of the independence movement", highlighted the president of the AMI, Jordi Gaseni.

With the physical arrangement in the concentration, in which the parties and entities will not take over the front, it is intended to give a relevant role to citizens. The motto will be "Let's defend 1-O. Let's win independence."

Although it has been pointed out that 1-O was a legal referendum, convened by the Government of the Generalitat after the Parliament approved laws for it, which were suspended by the Constitutional Court, there was talk in today's act of "legitimacy " and addressing how independence should be made effective has been avoided, since that is the result of disagreements between various actors.

"The yes that is in force... and that is the strength of legitimacy in the final objective of independence. It is not up to us to decide how to get there, the idea is that that referendum marks a before and after of the legitimacy of the democratic objective to assume independence," Castellà pointed out.
