Tonight, Monday, the grand finale of the 'Grand Prix 2023' took place. It was the first final of the fun summer program after 18 years without broadcast. The towns of Alfacar (Granada) and Aguilar de Campoo (Palencia) have faced each other in an exciting competition.
The rivalry centered on pastry delights, as both towns are known for their flour specialties, but only one of them was able to emerge as the winner. The final was attended by Eduardo Casanova, actor and director, who cheered on the blue stands of Alfacar, and the duo Camela, who did the same with the yellow stands of Aguilar de Campoo.
Alfacar, with some 5,500 inhabitants in the region of La Vega in Granada, is known for its special bread, highlighting its secret ingredient: water from local springs. The town has around 50 bakeries, one of its main attractions, together with the natural environment of the Sierra de la Alfaguara.
Aguilar de Campoo, for his part, secured first place in the grand final after winning the first semifinal against Tineo (Asturias). This town in Palencia is famous for its agri-food industry and is home to the largest biscuit factory in Spain, Gullón. The cookie has become a symbol and an essential part of its history and culture.
The program was developed in absolute equality. There was no shortage of fun moments with unusual falls and huge hot potatoes. The characters of the 'Grand Prix' also had their leading role with Ramón García trapped in the cage, Wilbur doing somersaults and jumping the 'Troncos Locos' without ruffling his hair, Cristinini with the dinosaur and Marisa the cow, a fan of the tower of Pisa and of distributing firewood in a hurry.
After the 'Crazy Trunks', both teams shared a score with a tie at 22 points. Right in the penultimate test 'Los bolos', Alfacar took advantage by the minimum of 2 points. The 'Dictionary' has arrived, the ultimate challenge. It was an intense, tough test. There the winner of the 2023 edition of 'Grand Prix' was decided, with the word "Refez". Alcafar assured that it existed, that it was something cheap and of little value; but, to tell the truth, he had a lot of courage. So much so that the success made them winners.
Alcafar emerged victorious from an exciting and disputed final, taking the program trophy and the 10,000 euro prize.
In this way, the 'Grand Prix' brought summer 2023 to an end. After 18 years, it has given us great moments in front of the television, with family and friends, making us travel to a nostalgic past.
