Alcaraz returns to another final after beating Molcan in Hamburg

The Spanish Carlos Alcaraz beat the Slovakian Alex Molcan 7-6 (2) and 6-1 this Saturday to reach the final of the ATP 500 tournament in Hamburg, which he will play against the Italian Lorenzo Musetti, and the number 5 in the world ranking, the highest so far of his career.

The Murcian, who took an hour and 35 minutes to carry out the confrontation with Molcan, can leave Hamburg as the fourth tennis player in the world if he wins the title.

Almost three months later, since he won the Caja Mágica in Madrid, Alcaraz returns to a final. It will be on clay, just like at the Mutua Madrid Open, in Barcelona and Rio de Janeiro, titles that he has won this 2022 along with the Miami Masters 1,000, on hard court.

Carlos Alcaraz aspires to the fifth title of the season, the sixth of his career because a year ago he premiered his record in Umag (Croatia). The Spaniard, who if he wins on Sunday will be the player with the most prizes so far this year alone, kept his cool against the resistance of his rival, with whom he had never faced before and who responded to each break of the Spanish.

The sleeve was resolved in the tiebreaker but in the second set Alcaraz accelerated and prevailed with the superiority he has shown so far in the tournament. The Spanish tennis player will face on Sunday, in an unprecedented final, the Italian Lorenzo Musetti who ended the wonderful streak of the Argentine Francisco Cerúndolo by winning 6-3 and 7-6(3), to reach the first final of his race.
