Albiol blames the Badalona government for causing the breakdowns in the hybrid police cars

Xavier García Albiol has made public at a press conference that seven of the eight new plug-in hybrid cars of the Urban Police are breaking down because the municipal government has not installed electric charging points at the Badalona Police Station.

These Urban Police cars were purchased in September 2021, during García Albiol's mayor's office at a cost of 890,000 euros, and arrived in May 2022. Now, not even a year later, seven of the eight cars suffer serious electrical problems because the government has not installed recharging points in all this time to guarantee that their operation is correct.

García Albiol assures that "the normal thing when you buy a plug-in hybrid car is, precisely, to plug it in because if you don't the battery breaks down; not having facilitated the charging of the cars is the most obvious example of the neglect of this municipal government that does not care that nothing works minimally well".

In November 2021, the procedures for the installation of 10 charging points at police stations began, but the municipal government did not complete the procedure and the new vehicles have not been charged even once. "They only had to finish the procedure that we started and they have not even been capable of that; from May Badalona will once again have a government that cares about things and that has its security one of its highest priorities," he concludes. .

For its part, the municipal government has replicated the accusations. They assure that the plugs for the facilities of the police station in Turó Caritg have been awarded for months. At the time of installation, the company detected "serious technical problems" that forced it to renegotiate the budget. They claim that the plugs will be installed in a few weeks.

On the other hand, they accuse the popular spokesperson of issuing falsehoods. "It is false that seven of the eight hybrid cars do not work" currently there are three in the workshop temporarily waiting for a part to be sent by the manufacturer. They also affirm that all the services of the Guàrdia Urbana are being fulfilled with the rest of the vehicles of the police fleet.
