Alberto Contador undergoes surgery for more than 100 lipomas

"Yesterday it was time to go through the workshop. I had a long time pending to remove some lipomas and those 'ones' have become more than a hundred! I will miss the bike for a while". Alberto Contador stopped the whole world with his publication on Instagram this weekend.

The former professional cyclist -winner of two Tours de France, three Vueltas a España and two Giros- presented a video on social networks in which he appeared with many parts of his body bandaged as if he were a mummy.

Lipomas are slow-growing fatty lumps that appear under the skin, in the subcutaneous tissue, above the muscle layer. These lumps can appear anywhere on the body. They tend to run in families, so the genetic factor is of great importance.

Contador, who retired in 2017 after an impressive victory at Angliru, had this intervention pending for a long time and took advantage of the Christmas holidays to undergo surgery.

"This is the bike I'm going to have next month," he said, showing a bike that was behind him, just before showing his cumbersome bandage. “Ojito, there were some bumps that I had to remove for a long time. I have taken advantage of these months of December and January to have surgery. More than 70 cuts, but when I come back, like a shot, ”she explained.

Alberto Contador, who turned 40 at the beginning of December, is still linked to cycling through the Foundation that bears his name, promoter of the professional team in the UCI Pro Tour Eolo Kometa category.
