Aitana Mas is now officially vice-president, spokesperson, secretary of the Consell and minister of Equality and Inclusive Policies. A few minutes late but before the president's control session at the Corts Valencianes, the leader of Compromís has promised her position, has promised to keep the deliberations of the Consell and has added a significant tagline, her intention to "fight for social justice and ecological justice.
In the Golden Hall of the Palau de la Generalitat, until now the deputy spokesperson for Compromís in Les Corts and co-spokesperson for Iniciaitiva del Poble Valencià has taken office in a brief act in which the outgoing minister has not participated. Mónica Oltra will attend the transfer of portfolios this afternoon.
Mas takes office at a difficult time for the Valencian coalition after the "traumatic" departure of its institutional and electoral leader, Mónica Oltra, who announced her resignation 9 days ago after being charged by the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV).
And it does so in the midst of an internal debate on the role that Compromís should play with respect to its government partners, more specifically, with respect to the PSPV and its president Ximo Puig. In the Valencian coalition there is an open debate on whether to enter into a direct confrontation with the Valencian president or lower the tension.
