Aitana Mas clears the way for Baldoví to be the Compromís candidate for the Generalitat

There will be no battle in Compromís to be the candidate for the Presidency of the Generalitat Valenciana. The first vice-president of the Council and strong woman of Initiative after the forced march of Mónica Oltra, Aitana Mas, has announced this Monday that she will not compete with the deputy in Congress, Joan Baldoví, to be the president of the coalition.

In this way, the path is cleared for the commitment of Més Compromís (the majority party in the coalition) which already announced at the end of September its decision to run for the Presidency of the Valencian Government. A decision that generated some discomfort in the Initiative that never officially ruled out that Mas was not going to present himself.

With his early step forward, Baldoví blocked the growth of the vice president, who has already shown in subsequent episodes such as the dismissal of the Minister of Agriculture and Ecological Transition, Mireia Mollà, that her pulse does not tremble when it comes to assuming new leadership.

Thus, Mas is running solely to lead the candidacy for Les Corts for Alicante with the challenge of achieving a good result in a complicated constituency for Compromís. The transfer of Mas avoids added tensions in the party and guarantees some internal stability in the always complicated primary process.

Thus, to justify his final decision not to enter into a melee with Baldoví, Mas has vindicated his role, since he assumed the position of Mónica Oltra for "responsibility", for trying to "sew torn fabrics and rebuild bridges".

In fact, in his intervention before the media -presented by his political godfather, the ex-Councilor of Transparency Manolo Alcaraz- Mas has highlighted that it is in the regions of Alicante where the Botanic plays it. The leader of Iniciativa, accompanied by public officials of the coalition such as the president of Les Corts, Enric Morera, or the parliamentary speaker, Papi Robles, has emphasized that Compromís must "be useful again in 2023" and has shown herself convinced of which will be the "key to a third Botanic".

In this line, he has sent a message to his fellow party members: "We do not have to be managers of fear but of hope." But he ended his brief intervention with a verse by Vicent Andrés Estellés: "Enyore un temps que no és vingut encara" (I miss a time that has not yet arrived).
