The world of American television and series is in mourning after hearing the news of the death of actor Billy Miller, famous for his participation in some of the longest-running fictions on North American television, such as General Hospital, The Young and the Restless or All My Children.

The actor died last Friday at the age of 43 and although the cause of his death has not been officially revealed, it is known that the performer suffered from bipolar disorder and severe depression. According to the TMZ portal, his team suggests that he could have taken his own life.

However, according to first information, the actor would have died due to complications from a neurological condition that he had suffered since 2021.

The actor suffered from progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), a neurological condition that affects the brain and results in difficulties with balance, movement, vision, speech and cognition. Miller had apparently been receiving treatment since he was diagnosed in 2021, although it is a degenerative type disease that has no cure.

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke estimates that approximately 20,000 people in the United States suffer from this rare, degenerative brain disease. It is caused by the accumulation of abnormal deposits of proteins known as tau in certain regions of the brain that regulate posture, coordination, eye movement, speech and behavior.

The actor began his successful television career in 2007, when he joined the cast of All My Children  as Richie Novak. That same year, the actor signed on for the series The Young and the Restless, where he would remain part of the main cast for six years, playing Billy Abbott for more than 700 episodes.

Two well-known series that gave him the impetus to become one of the most sought-after actors for the oldest fiction series on television, which is how he became part of the cast of General Hospital, where he played two characters until his departure. in 2019. Since then, the actor has participated in other successful series, such as Suits or Ray Donovan.
