The Ertzaintza has arrested a 21-year-old in Eibar, accused of a crime of injuries due to serious negligence. Apparently, the arrested person has thrown a kind of sofa out of the window of a building and the bulky object has hit a person who was passing by on the street at that moment.
As reported by the Basque Department of Security, the event occurred this Monday at nine in the morning in Eibar, on a street in the Ipurua neighborhood. A call to the SOS Deiak 112 emergency telephone number reported the presence of an unconscious person on the public road, since a sofa had apparently fallen on him.
The ertzainas displaced to the place confirmed the presence of an injured person, for whom the witnesses had requested the assistance of an ambulance. The object that had supposedly hit the injured man, an armchair, had been moved by someone to a nearby garbage area.
Meanwhile, the toilets treated the injured person, a 64-year-old man, who was transferred to the Donostia Hospital in serious condition.
Subsequent inquiries revealed that a man had thrown the chair from the third floor of a building and the Ertzaintza resources proceeded to identify the person allegedly involved in that action.
The young man was arrested for an alleged crime of injuries due to serious negligence and was transferred to the premises of the Eibar Police Station, awaiting being brought before the courts.
