A Ukrainian missile destroys the headquarters of pro-Russian separatists in Donetsk

The mayor's office in the main Donetsk city controlled by pro-Russian separatist militias was destroyed by a Ukrainian missile this morning, Russian intelligence agencies reported. No casualties have been reported. According to the RIA Novosti agency, the municipal building was seriously disabled by the attack, of which they accused the Ukrainian army.

The separatists have distributed photos on social networks in which plumes of smoke can be seen around the building, windows destroyed and part of the roof collapsed. Three cars that were in the vicinity also burned from the impact.

Kyiv has declined to comment on the attack nor has it taken credit for it. Pro-Russian militias accuse the Ukrainians of launching missiles at infrastructure and residential areas in the occupied territories, often with US-supplied HIMARS long-range rockets. Despite this, they have not provided evidence that this is so.

The attacks have occurred a day after two armed men from a former Soviet republic opened fire on eleven of their comrades who were carrying out military exercises to be taken to the front. As a result, eleven people died and another 15 were injured. The perpetrators then committed suicide.
