A truck driver multiplies his alcohol level by eight and tests positive for cocaine and amphetamine

The Civil Guard is investigating a truck driver from Seville who, after suffering an accident with his concrete mixer-type vehicle, multiplied by eight the alcohol level allowed for a professional driver, and in subsequent drug tests he tested positive for cocaine and amphetamine.

The actions of the agents began after an accident on the A-8008 highway (Seville-A-8005), in which a concrete mixer-type vehicle had suffered an off-road and subsequent rollover, the Civil Guard has reported. Once the driver was subjected to the legally established tests, he returned a result of 1.17 mg/l in exhaled air in the first test, and 1.27 mg/l in the second, thereby octupling the rate allowed for professional drivers.

When he was subsequently tested for drugs, he returned a positive result for cocaine and amphetamines, confirmed by the reference laboratory, which already occurred with a test he was subjected to days before.

Despite the magnitude of the accident, the 34-year-old driver was unharmed, but the road was closed and traffic was diverted along the SE-3102 highway to carry out the rescue work on the concrete mixer truck he was driving.
