At least three people were killed and 11 others injured when a passenger train collided with a freight train Friday night in northeastern Croatia, the country's Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said.
Eight of the eleven injured are foreign citizens, and all of them have been transferred to hospitals in the cities of Slavonski, Brod, Pakrac and Nova Gradiska, according to statements broadcast by the HRT channel.
The train crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. local time between Okučani and Novska stations. "Three people died in the accident. There are at least 11 injured people who were taken to hospitals (...) We know that the three deceased are Croatian citizens and eight of the 11 injured are foreign citizens," the prime minister said at the scene. accident.
There are more serious injuries, but according to information from doctors, none of these 11 victims is in danger, Plenkovic said, adding that they do not know if anyone else has died.
