A ring for the moon

I always look at the moon but this morning it had this special touch, with this ring that made it look more mysterious and different, as you can see in these snapshots in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.

Or could it be that we are more sensitive now, since we know that it is a somewhat abnormal year?... These are some photographs taken in l'Hospitalet de l'Infant around 2:30 in the morning, with the sky somewhat cloudy.

The lunar halo is usually seen in cold places, such as Antarctica, Alaska, Greenland, northern Scandinavia, boreal areas of Russia and Canada, although it has also been visible in countries with a tropical climate.

In fact, it can happen anywhere if the right weather conditions exist, as seen from the Baix Camp in this case.

The halo is caused by ice particles suspended in the troposphere that refract light, generating a spectrum around the moon, although it also happens with the sun.
