A police officer charged with 1-O denounces the "non-consensual" kiss of a protester in 2017

A national police officer charged with charges of the illegal referendum held in Catalonia on October 1, 2017 has denounced the non-consensual kiss that one of the protesters gave him in Barcelona, considering it a crime against sexual freedom.

This is stated in the complaint, filed yesterday Monday before the investigating court number 7 of Barcelona, in which the member of the Police Intervention Unit (UIP), the riot police, reports that an unknown person of about 60 years old gave him a kiss on the mouth in a "surprise, unexpected, sudden and non-consensual" way.

According to the complainant, who accompanies his testimony with a video from the Qatari channel Al Jazeera, the events occurred in an environment of "extreme environmental violence" in which the woman sought, "in addition to the libidinous mood," to trigger "a situation of generalized violence." " due to the agent's reaction, which, however, was one of "disgust" and "containment."

In the text of the complaint it is explained that at the time of the kiss, the ballot boxes located in the central services of the Department of Education of Catalonia, in Via Augusta in Barcelona, had just been intervened.

While proceeding to evacuate the center, the riot police suffered "screams, insults, attacks and humiliation," the complaint states. In the video attached as evidence, a woman can be seen grabbing the agent by the bottom of his helmet and kissing him on the mouth. In her letter, the police officer asks for her identification and for a restraining order to be imposed.

The complainant is one of the 45 agents who participated in the Police Intervention Units on October 1, 2017 who are being investigated for their actions to prevent the illegal referendum, sources from the Unified Police Union (SUP) have confirmed to EFE. whose legal office assists the agent.

The police officer has filed the complaint almost six years after the events because until now he had not been able to locate the video to attach it as documentary evidence, according to the same sources.

"As you can see (in the video), there is no consent and (...) the principle of authority is completely diluted," they allege from the union, which considers the act a case of sexual abuse, since it is prior to the reform of the Penal Code that equates abuse and aggression.

The aforementioned sources are against a hypothetical amnesty for those prosecuted for the "procés" and, in any case, they ask that they not be compared with the independentists.

"We are not on the same level. Those people were sentenced for having committed a crime and in our case not yet: it is the decision of a single judge who has decided to charge 45 colleagues," they defend.
