An Isolated Depression at High Levels (DANA) will begin to be noticed this Friday in the northwest of the peninsula, as confirmed to the Efe agency by the spokesman for the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), José Luis Camacho.
The phenomenon, of which the exact position and intensity are not yet known, could generate a storm on the surface, "but it is still difficult to model correctly", the expert warned.
In any case, cloudy or overcast skies are expected, with rainfall in the north of Galicia and, more abundant, in the Cantabrian Sea, according to Aemet predictions, which also predicts lower temperatures than usual for this time of year throughout the year. country.
"There will be a thermal rise during the first days, but it could cool down again for the weekend," they specified from Aemet on their X account (formerly called Twitter), where they added that "the rainfall will spread to other points of the north and east of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands".
The meteorologist Francisco Martín León has assured that the DANA, which he predicts will be located in the southwest of the peninsula, "will generate the first autumnal episode of heavy rains", some of which, he has warned, could be "torrential".
On the other hand, eltiempo.es specifies that, although the arrival of the DANA is clear, it is still uncertain where it will descend in latitude, which will be known exactly one or two days before the episode.
Given this uncertainty, eltiempo.es has pointed out two possible scenarios. In the first place, the DANA could drop down through the west of the peninsula and would cover an area from the Atlantic off Portugal to the Spanish-Portuguese border, so it is likely that it would reach the Gulf of Cádiz until it stagnated.
If this were the case, the most intense rainfall would be recorded in the Mediterranean and in the interior of the peninsula, with bands of rainfall that would advance from south to north or from southeast to northeast. According to eltiempo.es, the current forecast contemplates this scenario, with heavy rains during the early hours of next Sunday to Monday in the interior of the peninsula.
On the other hand, the DANA could descend on the Peninsula, so that the most notable rainfall area would move to the northeast, and would mainly affect the Mediterranean coastal provinces, from the Valencian Community to Catalonia, the Ebro valley and the south face. of the Pyrenees.
In any case, until Friday, temperatures will remain contained in a large part of Spain, with slight rises over the next few days, so the values will be somewhat higher between Thursday and Friday.
