Tragic day for motorcyclists in Catalonia when two of them lost their lives in less than 24 hours. Last night, around 9:00 p.m., a 39-year-old motorist died after colliding with a car on Avenida Mare de Déu de Montserrat with Calle Praga in the Horta-Guinardó district of Barcelona.

This is the seventh fatality in a traffic accident in the city in 2023, the City Council reported in a statement this Saturday, in which it also regretted the death and “reaffirmed its commitment” to continue working to reduce traffic victims.

Crews from the Urban Police and the Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) went to the place and transferred the man, seriously injured, to the Hospital de Sant Pau, where he finally died.

On the other hand, a minor who was driving a motorcycle died in the accident she suffered last morning on the AP-7 highway, passing through the Barcelona town of Santa Perpètua de la Mogoda, the Catalan Service has reported traffic

The incident occurred shortly before five in the morning at kilometer 144.1 of the AP-7, northbound. For reasons that are being investigated, an accident with a motorcycle involved has been recorded at that point, an accident as a result of which the minor, who was the one carrying the vehicle, died.

In accordance with the regulations, minors between the ages of 16 and 18 can drive motorcycles of 125 cubic centimeters on all types of roads. Six Mossos patrols and four SEM units have worked on this accident, as well as a psychological support unit.

As a result of the accident, there have been traffic jams on the AP-7, with a caravan going north for one kilometer until the situation has returned to normal, minutes before six in the morning. With the death of this minor, there are already 48 people who have died in traffic accidents on the interurban road network in Catalonia so far this year, 13 of them motorcyclists.
