The Civil Guard in Mallorca is investigating a case of bullying of a minor in a town on the island who suffered a severe attack while other classmates recorded the attack. The video has been made public and it shows how a young man forces the minor to kneel and kiss his feet. At that moment, he takes the opportunity to kick him twice in the face and, when he gets up, he continues to attack him with punches. Several minors who were in the area and who saw the attack did nothing to stop the beatings and one of them recorded them with his mobile phone. Laughter is heard from the minors.
The events occurred on the 17th, at the doors of the Consolación school in Alaró (Mallorca) where the minors study. The Department of Education has also opened an investigation to determine the scope of the events and to clarify whether the anti-harassment protocols established by the Balearic Government have been followed.
The Balearic Minister of Education, Antoni Vera, has ordered an investigation into whether there has been a violation of the rights and duties of students that are included in the decree that establishes the rules of coexistence for educational centers. The attack did not occur in the same educational center, but the circumstances of the attack have made Educació decide to implement the protocol for possible harassment.
The Civil Guard and the Ministry must find out if the harassed and humiliated minor has suffered other previous attacks by his peers or if the attack and recording by his peers is an isolated case. The Alaró City Council has also offered collaboration to the family, including psychological care if they need it.
