The National Police have arrested a man of Italian nationality for stealing a watch valued at almost 35,000 euros on Sunday on a street in the Madrid neighborhood of Salamanca, a spokesperson for the Madrid Police Headquarters has informed Europa Press.

The events took place after 5:30 p.m. on October 29 on Jorge Juan Street. A woman called 091 reporting that she had just had a valuable watch stolen while leaving a store. A man grabbed her from behind her and with a blow of strength and precision tore the rolex from her; while another hit her husband, who was trying to prevent the robbery.

The victim had been eating with other people at a nearby restaurant minutes before. There, the waiters had suspected a person who was recording with her cell phone in the vicinity and that she came into the establishment asking about the VIP area and then left unexpectedly.

One of the restaurant workers managed to identify said person and, after the theft, followed him through the streets of the neighborhood. His two cronies had quickly fled the scene on a motorcycle, as detailed by 'Voz Populi'.

A National Police patrol arrived at the scene and contacted the waiter who was following the suspect by telephone. Finally, he managed to detain him on Lagasca Street on the corner of Alcalá Street until the arrival of the agents, who searched the alleged criminal and found various mobile phones that were not his property among his clothes, for which he ended up arrested.

The National Police are now looking for the other two thieves. The detainee is a 34-year-old man of Neapolitan origin with no criminal record, but who was imprisoned in France for similar acts. The victim, of Mexican origin, suffered a nervous breakdown due to what happened.
