Mossos d'Esquadra from the Mataró (Maresme) police station arrested a man on May 18 as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of damage caused by a fire.

Around 07:00 hours, the agents received a notice reporting a fire in an industrial warehouse on Calle Foneria de Mataró and that the fire was intentional. Upon arrival at the scene, they identified a 24-year-old man. The efforts carried out by the agents allowed him to be allegedly related to the perpetrator of the fire since they found evidence among his personal effects.

When the Firefighters extinguished the fire, they located several motorcycle parts on the first floor of the warehouse that, after checking, turned out to be stolen. In total there were nine chassis, two engines, four wheels, two exhaust pipes and other parts of the vehicles. They also found 198 children's backpacks, 180 alarm clocks and 139 battery chargers. On the second floor they also located 740 marijuana plants.

The Investigation Unit of the Mataró police station has taken the pertinent steps to clarify the facts and identify the people related to these criminal offences.
