A man accused of trying to kill his partner in France is arrested in Alicante

Agents of the National Police have arrested in Alicante a fugitive from French justice, who had a European Arrest Order issued by the authorities of that country in force, for the crimes of attempted homicide, sexual assault and injuries to his partner, committed in mid-August.

The detainee could face a life sentence in France for the crimes committed, police sources reported in a statement.

At the end of last August, France issued a European Arrest and Surrender Order on a 36-year-old man of Ecuadorian origin, who is accused of the alleged commission of the crimes of attempted homicide, sexual assault and injuries to your romantic partner.

This arrest warrant was brought to the attention of Organized Crime Group I of the Judicial Police Brigade of the Provincial Police Station of Alicante, as there were suspicions that the fugitive could be hiding in the province of Alicante.

The fugitive had fled from French justice after allegedly trying to kill his romantic partner, sexually assaulting her and causing injuries with a knife while both were residing on a farm working as seasonal workers.

The French authorities learned of the events after the victim was admitted to a French hospital with serious injuries caused by a knife.

The French police began the search for the alleged perpetrator, who could not be located, so a European arrest search was finally established, which ended with his arrest in Spain by agents of the National Police.

The detainee was placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court on duty in the town of Alicante, and has been awaiting his appearance before the Central Investigating Court number Five of the National Court.
