Rayo drew goalless in Vallecas with Athletic in an entertaining match, very back and forth, with a lot of rhythm and under the rain. Both teams were able to win, but the goalkeepers emerged as the best and prevented the score from moving. The goalkeepers dressed in black, in homage to the mythical Iríbar for its 80th anniversary.
Athletic had a little more of the ball in the first half, in which they enjoyed more chances, although there was a very clear one for each team in this act. The first was that of Athletic, in the 31st minute, and it was twice. Guruceta finished off and Dimitrievski put his hand in. Isi Palazón cleared and again the ball returned to the local area, where Sancet headed it to stop Dimitrievski again in his best intervention.
