The Tarragona Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested a 26-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of a double attempted murder of two minors that took place on February 26 in the city. The events occurred on Vidal and Barraquer streets when both young people were seriously injured by a knife.
Police have also arrested four other people in connection with the case. All the arrests were made on May 26 in the framework of a police operation that included several entries and searches. The police seized two carbine-type firearms and various amounts of drugs. The acting court of Tarragona ordered the imprisonment of the material author of the attack and freedom with charges for the rest.
The police investigation has made it possible to determine that the fight, which took place last February, began due to a discussion between the victims of the attack and another minor with whom they fought and who caused minor injuries. Next, this young man called another man who quickly arrived at the scene with a scooter and attacked them with a knife.
On February 28, the investigators arrested the minor who notified and induced the material author of the aggression. In addition, he was also charged with a crime of breach of sentence, since he had a ban on carrying weapons in force. For this reason, this boy was placed at the disposal of the Tarragona Juvenile Prosecutor's Office, who ordered his admission to a center.
On the other hand, on May 3, a second minor related to the case was arrested, who was released with charges after being brought before the Prosecutor's Office.
The police efforts made it possible to verify a close personal relationship between the mother of the first detained minor and the alleged perpetrator of the attack, for which reason she had covered up for him during all that time. A relative of the woman also participated in this cover-up by providing them with a farm in which to hide.
The investigation reveals that two of those investigated were part of a criminal network that recruited young people, some of them minors, to distribute drugs throughout the city.
For all these reasons, last Friday, May 26, two simultaneous entries and searches were made in Tarragona to locate and arrest three of those investigated. The Special Intervention Group (GEI) participated in the first and allowed the agents to arrest the main person under investigation and material author of the double attempted homicide. In addition, the police arrested a relative of his for concealment.
Likewise, inside the houses where both individuals lived, two carbine-type firearms, a brass knuckle, a knife of more than 14 centimeters, handcuffs and various drugs and personal documentation related to the case were seized.
In the second entry and search, a woman was arrested, the mother of the first detained minor, who distributed drugs from a building in the center of Tarragona. In this sense, inside the home all kinds of narcotic substances were seized as well as hashish, MDMA, LSD and cash.
