A Belarusian fugitive wanted by Interpol for bribery is arrested in Alicante

The National Police has arrested in Alicante a man wanted by the Belarusian authorities on whom an International Detention Order for Extradition (OID) weighed for a bribery crime.

A Belarusian fugitive wanted by Interpol for bribery is arrested in Alicante

The National Police has arrested in Alicante a man wanted by the Belarusian authorities on whom an International Detention Order for Extradition (OID) weighed for a bribery crime.

This fugitive was arrested by agents of the Judicial Police of the Alicante Provincial Police Station, who found out that the man lived with his wife in the Alicante town of Torrevieja, and after conducting surveillance they managed to arrest him in Alicante.

The Belarusian authorities accuse him of obtaining economic benefits through the award of a series of contracts to construction companies using public authorities, between 2013 and 2016.

For all this, and according to the arrest warrant issued by Interpol, this fugitive could face a maximum of seven years in prison in Belarus.

The detainee, a Belarusian national and 37 years old, has been placed at the disposal of the Central Court of Instruction of the National Court, the body in charge of carrying out the procedures for his subsequent extradition.
