A 67-year-old man drowned this Thursday on the Mar Menuda beach in Tossa de Mar (Girona) due to the poor state of the sea. The Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) received notification of the incident at around 3:44 p.m., at which time they traveled to the scene with a helicopter and two ground units.
The victim was floating in the water less than 200 meters from the coast. The mayor of the town, Martí Pujals, explained in a video on his Facebook page that there were two people who were bathing and, although Local Police officers were able to rescue them, one of them drowned despite resuscitation maneuvers.
The Generalitat Bombers also sent two crews to the scene.
