A 12-year-old girl is rescued after falling five meters while canyoning

A twelve-year-old girl who fell from a height of five meters while canyoning in a ravine in the Sierra de Orihuela, in Alicante, was rescued yesterday afternoon and taken by helicopter to the hospital by firefighters from the provincial consortium.

The event occurred shortly before four in the afternoon. The girl was injured in the Sanes de La Aparecida ravine (Orihuela), after suffering a fall from about five meters high. She suffered several traumas, without an open fracture, and was dizzy.

Although there is a trail in the area, the pass is not accessible for an ambulance, so it was necessary to resort to the mountain rescue group's helicopter.

Once at the scene, a medic provided the first attention to the minor, who was lifted to the helicopter to take her to a nearby area in La Aparecida where she could land and where a medical helicopter was waiting for her.

The medical helicopter took charge of the girl and took her to the Alicante Firefighters heliport, where she landed around 6:20 p.m. and an ambulance was waiting to take her to a hospital.
